Kashmiri embroidery qualifies as the finest crafts(wo)manship passed on through generations dating back to the late 14th century. It was the Persian royalty that brought this embroidery technique called sozni (small needle) to Kashmir. Embroidering on cashmere is not only tricky because of the very fine breakable fibers but requires enormous amount of patience with fine hands. Watching the ustads (master artisans), mostly women and girls, at work is like meditation where their fingers barely move with truly breathtaking results.

Our collection of modern embroidery, including our best-selling moon collection, inspired by the chand rumal, a standard accessory of the Mughal emperors, are our attempts to preserve the intricate traditional Kashmiri embroidery with a modern context. The playful weaves and colors merged with the nature inspired themes transport the wearer to a place of opulence and elegance where artistry can be found in every moment.

Our range of embroidered shawls, mostly done by women in outskirt villages of Srinagar, as part of our enabling Kashmiri women artisans program, take anywhere between 4 to 14 months to finish one single product, depending on the intricacy of the design. We can sum up our embroidery collection as authentic pieces of art, that withstand the test of time and trends – an ethereal gift to be passed down generations.
